Deltas in Times of Climate Change Conference
September 29-October 01, 2010
Deltas are home to more than half the world’s population. However, as populations grow, the sea level rises and the land is subsiding, deltas and their cities are becoming more vulnerable. Increased incidences of floods, more heat waves and salt water intrusion threaten the economic vitality and attractiveness of deltas worldwide. Apart from climate change mitigation, adapting to climate change has become an imperative.
The City of Rotterdam, the C40, and two Dutch research programmes on climate change, Climate Changes Spatial Planning and Knowledge for Climate and the Cooperative Programme on Water and Climate (CPWC) are jointly organizing a conference Deltas in times of Climate Change to share and exchange knowledge and experience on adaptation to climate adaptation.
