Our partner, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) will host the CDP Cities Global Forum, where it will release the Measurement for Management: CDP Cities 2012 Global Report, on June 7, 2012 from 9:30 to 11 AM Eastern. A section of the Global Report will showcase C40 Cities and the results from the second year of annual reporting from 45 of the cities in C40.
Occurring just weeks before Rio+20, this virtual roundtable enables participants to begin focusing on the critical role cities are playing as a leading force for climate action and sustainability around the world. The discussion is expected to help cities:
- Highlight innovative methods of climate change action pioneered by some of the largest and most progressive cities in the world.
- Share ideas on how to accelerate and scale up the innovative actions that cities are taking.
- Identify the opportunities that measurement and reporting can create within cities.
- Learn from progressive private-sector entities, including how local climate action is valued.
Representatives from C40, CDP and the Cities of San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Buenos Aires, New York, Washington DC, London, Dublin, Johannesburg, Lagos, Berlin, Moscow are expected to participate.
In 2011, CDP partnered with C40 to release CDP Cities 2011: Global Report on C40 Cities at the C40 Mayors Summit in Sao Paulo. The report demonstrates the impact cities can have in confronting global climate change and provides C40 Cities with the research to set targets, evaluate actions and access resources. In 2012, the CDP is once again partnering with C40 to provide the preferred reporting platform among global cities for climate change related data.
